I did not have a chance to look at the few photos I took while driving from home to the UK. Have just looked at them now and decided that there were a few worth posting.
Pont de Brotonne is a bridge in the region of Upper Normandy in France, situated between the cities of Le Havre and Rouen. It has crossed the river Seine since 1977.
Looking over at the bridge after we had crossed it.
Further along the road I just liked these clouds.
The moon was well up at around 5pm.
Not bad for a moving shot through the windscreen with Nigel's little Nikon Coolpix S7000
A little later before we arrived at the B & B at Eslettes. Very difficult to find in the dark and the SatNav could not pick up the address!!
The next morning at Immigration in Calais.
First car into the Chunnel 😉 and on an earlier one than planned which was good.
and finally in the UK. This is a pedestrian bridge over the M20.
I have updated my bird blog HERE.
It was nice to see some of your journey to the UK. I also loved your sky photos. Have a wonderful NYE and all the very best in 2019!
ReplyDeleteThanks Penny, I hope all is well with you and that 2019 is extra good to you. Keep well Diane
DeletePixtures of bridges are appropriate as we bridge our ways from one year to another. Happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right but the years seem to go faster now than they used to!!!! All the best fro 2019, Diane
DeleteRemember when bridges were simply utilitarian? Now they are works of arts combined with architectural wizardry. Mind you, some of those old rural bridges are gorgeous too. There is something especially appealing about standing on a country bridge over a stream and watching the water go by. It always reminds of that poem by Tennyson if I am not mistaken. I think it is called “The Brook” and contains the lines “Men may come and men may go, but I go on forever.” All the very best for the New Year, Diane and Nigel. What a joy it has been to get to know you, albeit not in person. David
ReplyDeleteThanks David for those very kind words and I must say it has been a pleasure to get to know you and Miriam. I have 'met' some wonderful people through blogging and the ones I have met face to face have all been very special people.
DeleteAs for bridges I agree there are some very spectacular ones out there, but my favourites are still all the ones that have stood the test of time and are still being used today. We have a lots of them in France 😉 I chatter over stony ways, In little sharps and trebles, I bubble into eddying bays, I babble on the pebbles.
I hope 2019 brings lots of interesting birds our way as well as health and happiness. Diane
Greetings from us. Wishing you all the best!
ReplyDeleteThank Aritha and all the very best to you all for 2019. Diane

ReplyDeleteThanks Nancy, I thought trying to take the moon in a moving car was a waste of time so Was very surprised!! A happy and healthy 2019 to you and your family. Diane

ReplyDeleteHAPPY NEW YEAR, my dearest friend!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks Mia and all good wishes to you as well, Diane
DeleteLove the artistic bridges but still uncertain about the chuttle.
ReplyDeleteGaelyn I will never enjoy going in the chunnel but I have learnt that in winter it is a better option than a ferry which may well be cancelled at the last minute due to the weather. Not sure how easy any of it is going to be after Brexit! Take care and keep warm, Diane
DeleteI love that photo of the half moon. Happy New Year.

DeleteYou've captured some magnificent bridges there.
ReplyDeleteI still prefer the very old stone bridges, I am sure the new ones will not last 100's of years like the old ones have. Interesting bridges though I have to agree. Cheers Diane
