Belated Happy Easter........ Out for a drive and around the garden.

Maximum temperature today 22C, minimum 11C.  Dry.  15 km/h South-easterly winds with gusts up to 49 km/h.

Spent today day working in the garden, half of the potatoes planted, grass cut and edges trimmed.

Looking across the fields,

Down the road,

Citroën 2CV at Massignac.

Château de Montbrun.
(In B and W as I had a lot of reflection from the windscreen and this was better than colour!)

Winding roads...

as above.

Presumably the ancient stone entrance into Saint Auvent.

Choisya ternata and bee.

Black tulips.

Iris.

Lilac in the neighbours garden next to our hedge.

Bluebell with what I think is Red-tailed bumble bee (Bombus lapidarius).

Orchid, the first flower from one of my own cuttings so I am pretty happy about it.

Weed in the lawn but pretty - Cranesbill.

Peony look carefully - 2 bugs.

Quince blossom. I hope we do better with fruit this year! Last year was not good!

    1. Mia it is not a vintage car, vintage is only between 1919 to 1930. A car must be at least 20 years old, but not more than 40 years old to be considered a classic car which this probably is, so long as there is no alteration to the original, only repairs. If over 45 years old it then becomes antique!!

I also love those tulips they are my favourite. Take care Diane

    1. Today is overcast and cooler but it really has warmed up, and yes the chateau is a castle, just the French name for it. Hope you are well. Diane

  3. We hit 20 degrees here today, Diane, so maybe spring has arrived for both of us. Lots of flowers now and the buds are bursting on the trees. I went for a walk twice today and I bet you walked too. I hope that you and Nigel are both 100% now.

    1. I have done very little walking too much to be done in the garden. Also I have cracked a rib so deep breathing is not recommended at present! Keep well Diane

  4. I'm not sure which I like better... the architecture or the flowers. I really like lilacs. They are one of my faborites.

    1. So many beautiful chateaux around us here, but our local one at La Rochefoucauld takes a lot of beating. Have a good day, Diane

    1. The 2cv is certainly so much a part of France. We looked at them, but Nigel cannot get into them, they are built for the French who are generally fairly short! Have a great day Diane

    1. I certainly hope so it has felt like a long winter despite the fact the only snow we saw was in Northern France at the end of January. Best of luck in your new job. Diane

  10. Great photos, Diane! I love the one of the stone entrance into Saint Auvent! Photos like that are inviting, making me wonder what is beyond. The flowers are gorgeous! You're way ahead of us. No mowing, or planting yet, and few flowers in bloom. The forsythia is just budding. Those lilacs are awesome! Ours are just getting little green leaves now. Chilly today, 50°F and cloudy. Nice post, Take care

  13. Hope you had a wonderful Easter. You live in a lovely place from the pictures. Beautiful flowers. I tried to grow a potato plant, it grew to about 2 feet and then it withered and died off.

    1. Hi Nancy I find potatoes relatively easy to grow, have you tried them in grow bags which are perfect for small gardens? When the plant dies off that is usually when you dig out the roots to find the potatoes. Try again,I am sure you will succeed. Take care Diane

  14. I so enjoy seeing your photos Diane, you live in such a pretty spot. I'm wondering how on earth you managed to work in the garden all day with a cracked rib, it must have been exhausting! I really hope the summer weather coming helps you both feel much better. Take care ✨

    1. Grace when we were in S. Africa I cycled a 75 km race with a cracked rib, I needed to do it for a qualifying ride! First ribs I did my father had to lift me on and off my horse 'cause I could not do it alone. Gardening is much simpler, though I have to say this is the most painful one I have done! I have been forced to rest now though as it keeps raining 😊 Hope all is well Diane

  16. Wonderful photography and images, Diane. I can see that, unsurprisingly, your spring is much more advanced than ours - but we're getting there!

Please forgive me if I don't work my way back through all your blog posts since my last visit - as I mentioned in my reply to your comment on my blog, I've got my work cut out with a lot of catching up to do!

Have a great weekend! My very best wishes - - - Richard

    1. Richard I know the feeling. Coming home with literally thousands of photos takes some sorting out. I lost one big batch last year when my computer crashed out. I was pretty fed up as I had taken them off the card but on the other hand it saved a lot of time !!! Hope that you are now feeling better. Best wishes to you and the family, Diane

  17. A lovely tour of your area and photos that I enjoyed very much. I used to see one or two Citroën vehicles when I lived in Devon. Always enjoyed them, they looked so different.
