    1. Thanks Marie, I am very fond of our lizards, then never cease to delight me. So many little creatures around if one only takes the time to look. Keep safe Diane

    1. Diane it is all thanks to my Tamron lens (TAMRON Megazoom - 18-400 mm) it is so simple to use, though I would still love to have a macro lens as well!. Yes I hope things will improve but so far it seems to be running downhill!! Take care, t'other Diane.

    1. The hummingbird hawk moth is pretty much my favourite insect, only the Broad-bordered bee hawk-moth can beat it and we do not see many of them. The heating is on but we have not lit the fire yet! Stay safe and have a great weekend Diane

  7. Good morning Diane: It is amazing how often you feature a Hummingbird Hawk Moth. They must be quite common there for the diligent observer. They can be found here but I very rarely see them, and I have never been able to take a picture. I always look forward to your posts and the wide range of less commonly featured species you cover. Stay well, stay safe, hug Nigel, drink wine, amuse bien ta bouche, eat cheese, eat more cheese, quaff more wine, sleep well. Toujours ton ami, David.

    1. The hummingbird hawk Moth is a fairly regular visitor but it took me a log time to get reasonable photos. Yes, eating and drinking is a good way to pass the time away but I seem to be busier than ever. The result of having a huge amount of garden produce means the kitchen takes up far more time than usual. Bonne journée. Restez en sécurité. Diane

  8. Once again, your garden is full of delights that you are sharing with us, Diane. Your Hummingbird Hawkmoth images are superb, and you have got me wondering if you have an unusual colour-morph there with the blue colouration. Even the body looks steeely-grey where I'd expect a distinctly brown colour.

We're now thoroughly confined to areas close to home but, thankfully, it looks as if the birds might be starting to return to the garden. However, the garden is almost devoid of insects now - I put the moth trap out a couple of night ago, and only caught one!

Take great care - best wishes to you both - - - - Richard

    1. Richard I have never seen one with this colouring and I have taken many photos of hummingbird hawk moths. The only different one that I have got photos of is, the Broad-bordered bee hawk-moth which is beautiful. I was intrigued when I saw the photo, I did not notice it when I took the shot. Yes there are very few insect about now, though I have enough from early November to do another blog.

Not sure how long we are going to be in lockdown, as yet things are getting worse not improving. I can see this going on through Christmas at this stage but we have no end date so.....

Just stay safe and try to enjoy what you can at home. All the best to you both, Diane

I absolutely love the purple/lavender colors, Diane. So so pretty.

Hope you and Nigel enjoy your weekend.
