Maximum temperature here today 16⁰C, minimum 9⁰C. 1 mm rain measured this morning. 9km/h South-westerly winds with gusts up to 27 km/h.
I went for a walk on Saturday, with my printed form saying I was allowed out (lockdown rules), and within my 1 km radius of the house. Blue skies and sun and so many surprises!!! It was like spring!.
Fabulous weather looking across the fields.
I have never seen so many acorns as this year, they are everywhere.
Spindle (Euonymus europaeus).
Bladder Campion (Silene vulgaris).
Blue Echium (Echium vulgare).
Wild Carrot (Daucus carota) and Greenbottle-fly.
Common chicory (Cichorium intybus).
Clouded Yellow probably (Colias crocea) but there are 4 different Clouded Yellows and I cannot tell the difference! I saw at least 5 different Clouded Yellows while I was out, but they all might have been the same species or not!!
As above...
As above.
Caterpillar of a Fox Moth - (Macrothylacia rubi)....
I moved it off of the road onto the verge and it rolled up into defence mode. I waited a while to see if it would uncurl, but I gave up after a couple of minutes as I was only allowed out for one hour.
An abnormal growth on a dog rose caused by a species of gall wasp (Diplolepis rosae). The adult wasp lays eggs in the buds or developing leaves during mid-summer period.
More photos to follow - our connection seems to be slower than normal if that is possible!!!!!

Let us all join in great fun.
I'm glad you were able to take a walk, Diane. And, you always show us beautiful photo's. I'm amazed that you're able to identify the different flowers (which are beautiful). Your posts are always so upbeat and I sure do appreciate you.

Thanks for that very kind comment Sally, it is very much appreciated. Keep safe, Diane
DeleteEnjoyed going on your walk with you :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Connie glad that you enjoyed it. Hope all is well Diane
DeleteYou made the most of your brief walk and time out Diane. Beautiful photos of plants and animals.
ReplyDeleteI found an hour is very short when there is so much to take photos of, but fines are heavy so cannot afford to do extra. Have a good week and keep well Diane
DeleteYour weather temps sound perfect to me Diane 😉 Actually this week it has been a bit cooler also, very welcome especially knowing summer is just around the corner. Wonderful series of images from your allowed 1km walk radius ✨
ReplyDeleteAfter all the rain, this week looks quite spring like instead of heading into winter. I would be happy with your summer temps anytime! Have a good week and stay safe Diane.
DeleteHi Diane - yes ... more people at home and thus using up bandwidth. Loved the various flowers, insects and views - I love the chicory flower ... I bet the caterpillar is grateful now. Had a walk along the seafront yesterday ... so warm! Take care - Hilary
ReplyDeleteI think chicory is very pretty. The caterpillar might have made it alone but it was heading down the centre of the road, and although very little traffic around at the moment, I did not want to see it squashed. Hope it made it. Take care cheers Diane
DeleteMy word, Diane, lockdown for you really means lockdown! Considering that the distance you may travel is so restricted you did well with your photographs. How wonderful to see all those acorns. I am sure that squirrels and other rodents will stock their larders, but out of it all a few oak trees will grow.
ReplyDeleteDavid what is the point in having a lockdown if people pay no attention to it which is what seems to happen in many places. Here the fine is heavy if you slip up so it is not worth it. Nigel has picked up 10 sackful of acorns here all from one tree. We do not need an oak forest. We have no squirrels around us, I have only seen one in 15 years and we do not need to attract rodents!. What we do need is a pig, that would sort the problem out! Keep safe Diane
Deleteimpressive photos of autumn and the nice flowers remembers to summer
ReplyDeletestay safe and healthy
Warm regards from Germany
Thanks so much for your visit and comment, much appreciated. Keep safe, Diane
DeleteI'm glad you and your country are trying to stay safe during this pandemic! Great shots!!
ReplyDeleteI think we have the strictest of all lockdowns, I hope it works!! Keep safe Diane
DeleteLockdown is very serious there. It would be better if we had it here, but many seem to not care about the risk of making others ill. You certainly made the most of your one hour walk. Many lovely photos. Take care.
ReplyDeleteYvonne too many people are still not taking COVID seriously enough. Heavy fines here hopefully will help here! The one hou walk is a help to get out and I never seen anyone. Take care Diane
DeleteMy, you captured wonderful pictures in a short period of time.
ReplyDeleteHere, we are out of lockdown, but they are asking us to only make essential trips.
I love the flowers, especially the blue chicory and the bladder Campion.
Thanks for the visit and the comment I do appreciate it. There are still some pretty wild flowers around. Keep safe Diane
DeleteI am impressed with how much you see in your limited time, and still flowers too.
ReplyDeleteI am very surprised at what I ma seeing in November, it is warmer than the last few weeks though. Take care Diane
DeleteI enjoyed this lovely walk with you! Fabulous photos, Diane!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your visit and comment, much appreciated. Keep safe, Diane
DeleteGood that you are to enjoy your walks around your area and managed to take all the great photo of flowers and critters.
ReplyDeleteThanks Nancy, we are lucky that the weather has improved for a few days and getting out for a short walk is a pleasure. Keep safe Diane
DeleteYou certainly made the most of your freedom that is being so tightly limited by the very strict regulations in force there, Diane, as witness your delightful photos. I can see your dilemma with those Clouded Yellows - in UK we only have one species to worry about. Your photo of Common Chicory caused me to look at a photo I took on the Scillies in September and had labelled as Cornflower - yep, Common Chicory!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes to you both - - - Richard
Hi Richard, the weather has been good this week and I have managed to get out for my one hours every day, Amazing what I am seeing, it is like spring, I even saw two robins today, presumably male and female. Saw a moth today that might take some work to ID. I wish I could go a bit further afield but with the heavy fines if I got caught out it is not worth it.
DeleteGlad I sorted out you chicory for you 😉
Take care and keep safe, best wishes to you both and the family, Diane
My what fabulous beauty you found, and so close to home!
ReplyDeleteI was shocked to see that you have to have written permission to wander--not politically, but because my rural life has not really been affected by the virus (except I didn't get to grocery shop for a few weeks!). I hope we all get back to our preferred 'normal' soon.
Thanks for sharing your link at 'My Corner of the World' this week!
Yes Betty our lockdown is serious an heavy fines if we do not keep to it! Thanks for hosting, Diane
DeleteYou are fortunate to have such beauty within 1KM of your home.
ReplyDeleteVery lucky and I appreciate it. Cheers Diane
