I had no intentions of blogging while we were away on holiday but I felt I had to make a small celebration of the date
Flying into Cape Town, South Africa
Ernie Els Winery at Stellenbosch is framed by panoramic views of Cape Town and Table Mountain.
Lunch at Erni Els Restaurant - superb food.
Table Mountain is a flat-topped mountain forming a prominent landmark overlooking the city of Cape Town.
Hartlaub's gull (Chroicocephalus hartlaubii)...
The Cape Gull (Larus dominicanus)
Little egret (Egretta garzetta).
The lighthouse at L'Agulhas. The light was first lit on 1 March 1849.
We are now driving slowly along the garden route. On the 16th of February, we stay with friends at Kenton on Sea for a couple of weeks before moving on again
I am not very good at ID on Gulls so I hope that I have the above correct. I am happy to be corrected.
Congratulations. You blog for a long time. Your photos are beautiful and Table Mountain is my favorite.ReplyDelete

Thank you Richard. We have been very lucky re weather so far but my Tamron lens has a problem 😕. I am hoping to get someone to see it tomorrow so fingers crossed he can 'cure' it before we go to the game reserves!!Delete
Hope that all is well with both of you. Best wishes Diane
Hi Diane: Your gull ID is spot on! You sure know how to pick a good spot to celebrate thirteen years of blogging, and the nosh to go with it! These images bring back happy memories for me of time spent in this area. I doubt that I shall ever return so your travels will provide vicarious pleasure. Safe journeys! Gros bisous - DavidReplyDelete
Thank you David, glad I got that ID right. Not often I see gulls so they are a mystery to me! I hop-e to get so good photos before we leave but my telescopic lens has a problem!! I am hoping it can be fixed but!!! Bisous DianeDelete
Je suis heureuse de voir un post pendant tes vacances en Afrique du Sud et avec des oiseaux ! Il y en a tellement là-bas.
À bientôt et bonnes vacances

Yes, I thought that you weren't blogging while on holiday. Pleased you did though. The gulls are fantastic, the Hartlaub's reminds me of an Audouin's. Enjoy your time and the food.ReplyDelete
I had no intentions of doing so but with a relaxing day .......DianeDelete
Congrats on 13years of blogging. You made me check my dates I started at blogger in 2008 but before that Iwas with BLOGSPOT but it died. Well done for making the effort to travel again. We can't be bothered anymore except for local road trips. The scenery, birds and weather are all stunning.ReplyDelete
Diane we want to travel for as long as we are able, but COVID caused a problem and N's feet are getting worse so we need to make hay while the sun shines. T'other DianeDelete
Diane, I can't even remember how long I've had a blog. And now, of course, I don't blog very often. How wonderful you and Nigel are on Holiday. As always love your photo's. .You are an artist behind the camera. xoxoReplyDelete
