04/03/2019 A few odd photos that I missed at the end of last month.

Maximum temperature today 16C, minimum 6C.  4mm rain measured this morning; as I type this we are having a mixture of more rain plus some hail.  31km/h North-westerly winds with gusts up to 77 km/h.   It is very windy outside!

The tiny church down the road from us at Fleurignac has just had a new/restored bell put in after months of being without it.  Apparently, it had a crack.

Around the corner from the church is this old Lavoir.

Our local village of Vitrac, the local well...

as above, the Mairie and the local war memorial...

The Mairie from another angle.

Our last game of French scrabble at Vitrac where this word gave me a winning streak.  Yes, it is in the French scrabble dictionary!!

Out for a drive near Xambes - grape vines...

The town of Xambes - too many wind turbines...

You can see here just how close they are to the town!!  Thank goodness we did not buy a house near here!

A bee in the garden...

and a bumble bee.

Even a few lizards came out of hibernation for several days before the weather turned cooler again.

Last week we took a trip to the recycling centre here in the Charente.  It was extremely interesting, but because there was lots of info to go with it, which I do not put on the diary, I have put the post on my other blog HERE.

29/01/2019 Going home - Leaving at sparrow to get to the Chunnel in Folkestone...

29/01/2019 heading down the M20 in the UK, I just liked the clouds that looked like mountains.

29/01/2019 Back in France; many of the bridges have different statues on them...

29/01/2019 Sadly driving along the coast there are also quite a few wind turbines as it is very windy there - my pet hate!...

29/01/2019 A view from under a bridge...

29/01/2019 French road signs.

29/01/2019 French countryside...

29/01/2019 and then the rain came down.

30/01/2019 It started snowing as soon as we reached our hotel at Bourgtheroulde-Infreville and this is what we set out in the following morning...

30/01/2019 Not nice...

30/01/2019 White countryside...

30/01/2019 Trying to pass trucks!!!!...

30/01/2019 The snow ploughs were out...

It continued to past LeMans and then it just rained the remainder of the way home!!

01/02/2019 I could not get to the camera fast enough to get a good shot, the neighbour herding his first lambs into a drier place.

18/11/2018 A lunch and a drive last Friday - I am a bit behind myself!

Maximum temperature today 5C, minimum 1C.  Dry; 22km/h North-easterly winds gusting up to 47 km/h.  Very cold and our first frost this season.
It is going to be colder tomorrow!!

I love these forest areas with the autumn colours...

but sadly some areas are spoilt by the wind turbines!

Driving through Vadelle.

Arriving at Marcillac-Lanville, this is one of the pilgrim routes and the cutouts are here to remind us.

Inside the restaurant, Les Nymphéas...

I was quite taken by the African screen.

Onion soup for starters.  They brought a bowl to the table to help ourselves and it was so good we both had two helpings.

I forgot to take a photo of the second course which was chopped ham, salad and feta.  This was the main course of fish and it was delicious.

We had three slices of different cheeses and French bread,  before finishing off with a coffee eclair (my choice from a selection) and espresso coffee.
All served with a decanter of wine for €14 each. Great value.

Driving home we saw this house covered in Virginia creeper.  Wonder how many insects live in there!

Back home today; probably the last of the flowers with the weather change - Calendula...

Cosmos...

Climbing rose.

A visit from the European robin (Erithacus rubecula) early this morning.
