23/05/2020 A few more of the insects seen around the garden and down the road.

Maximum temperature here today 19⁰C, minimum 11⁰C.  It has been raining since the early hours of this morning and it is still raining, so not measured as yet,  13km/h North-westerly wind with gusts up to 31 km/h.

I think this is a Glanville Fritillary (Melitaea cinxia)...

Beetle (Silpha tristis)

Possibly (Melitaea cinxia) again.

Small heath (Coenonympha pamphilus).

Species of shield bug (Graphosoma italicum) It is also known as the Striped bug (or Italian striped bug) and Minstrel bug.

Rosemary beetle (Chrysolina Americana).

Bumblebee again in the sage - It is a popular plant when in flower 😊

I think this is a Caddisfly (order Trichoptera).

Froghopper (Cercopis vulnerata).

Gendarme beetle or firebug (Pyrrhocoris apterus).

Varied carpet beetle (Anthrenus verbasci) - the largest one is barely 3mm in length. (0.12 of an inch).

27/09/2017 Another day in the kitchen so low on photos.

Maximum temperature 22C,  minimum 12C.  6 km/h SE wind with 13 km/h gusts. 3mm of rain  measured this morning. 

I was waiting for Nigel to return from a quick trip to town and I saw this beetle on the barn wall, possibly a leaf beetle but I do not know which one.

While I was waiting I thought I would have a look at the neighbour's garden (they are away) a pretty rose...

and a yellow daisy but not an insect anywhere in sight!

Back home a wasp in the laurel hedge...

A small heath in the greenhouse (Coenonympha pamphilus)

this little lizard with a mouthful, goodness know what it had, but I only had one shot at it and it vanished into the wood stumps.

So many medlars, very tasty but a pain to work with, they need to rot first!!!

Also lots of quinces...

Today was more quince jelly and bottled fruit.

We are out at sparrow tomorrow morning and I do not know what time we will be home.  If I miss a day I will catch up on Friday.

19/09/2017 Busy day cutting wood for the fire.

Maximum temperature 18C,  minimum 8C.  5 km/h NW wind with 21 km/h gusts. Dry but dark skies around.

We had a session of cutting this morning and this afternoon, more tomorrow!

17/09/2017 Miserable day, cold, grey and wet. Luckily I took some photos yesterday that I am using today!

Maximum temperature 13C,  minimum 9C.  11 km/h SW wind with 35 km/h gusts. 5 mm of rain overnight. Rain on and off all day, not measured yet.

Blue sky for a short while yesterday morning.  Pampas.

As above, I crept around behind...

and then it kindly opened its wings in full.

I call this our mushroom garden, look carefully can you see two small animals on the top of the 'mushroom'.

This one was closest... Common Wall Lizard...

and this one was on the other side.   They will soon be hibernating until spring.
