Maximum temperature 34C, minimum 19C. 4 km/h SW wind with 24km/h gusts. Dry.
It is going to get hotter if the forecast is right!!
Clouded Yellow (Colias croceus)
As above, not the best photos but I only got one quick chance.
Even the lizards were in the shade.. apologies to those who do not like them...
I moved in slowly and it did not flinch.
Common wall lizard (Podarcis muralis)
One lone bee was on the sedum...
as above.
and a bug on the calendula.
I went out later to see if there was anything else around and the same lizard was still in the same place but it had turned around.
For those who comment about beams and stone in France, here are a few shots of the inside of our house that might interest you
Our lounge...
and looking the other way down the passage to our bedroom...
Stone walls in our bedroom...
as above...
When we bought the house our room looked like this
and a low central beam in the office does not worry us as I am the only one that works much on the other side.
Hope you enjoyed a small look at the inside of our home.
What fantastic beams and rock work! You did a fabulous job restoring and updating without losing the feel of the original structure!
ReplyDeleteLove the garden critters!
Thanks Doniene we did not want to change the house any more than necessary but there was a lot of work to do! Keep well Diane
DeleteBeautiful photos, Diane. I love the lizards and your photos are so nice and clear. But most of all, I love your beautiful house. Fantastic lounge and stunning bedroom. I am sure you needed a lot or work, but the result is absolutely great. Kisses, my friend.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Mia. We also love our house, but because it is so old, over 200 years, there is constant work to be done to it.
DeleteI also love the lizards, they are a pleasure to have around. Take care Diane
Diane, I love your lounge and bedroom! Very rustic and heartwarming. And your nature photos are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteMany thanks Linda. The house is very old and needs constant work but we love it :-) Keep well Diane
DeleteSo cool....I was wondering what the house looked like since you guys do so much stone. Thank you for sharing that. Mine is all dry wall but would love one wall in one of my rooms to be brick. Loving the beams.
ReplyDeleteWhen this house was built dry wall did not even exist. There is masses of stone around France so it was the obvious material to use so long ago. The walls are also very thick to control the temperatures. The oak beams have also stood the test of time. Take care Diane
DeleteWow! You have a beautiful home. Love the beam and stone work in your house. Both your home and garden are so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThanks Nancy for the kind words, much appreciated. Have a good day Diane
DeleteLove your outside wildlife but your indoors architecture is lovely. It looks like the show we watch 'Restoration man".
ReplyDeleteAll the old houses in France are mainly stone and wood beams. Sadly the new houses built here are not nearly so attractive!! We love the old, take care t'other Diane
DeleteLooks like those old stone walls might give you some protection from that 34 degree heat.
ReplyDeleteOur bedroom is very cool, but in winter we usually move to the spare room as it is much smaller and easier to keep warm. Cheers Diane
DeleteWow - Diane, you and hubby, did an awesome job with your home. I'd never seen stone walls before; how very pretty!
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of your lizard, almost every time I get into my car there will be one on the window. :)
xoxo
Thanks Sally your kind words are appreciated. I love our lizards, wild life in the garden is a bonus. Take care Diane
DeleteHi Diane. Your house is beautiful. I love the exposed beams and stone walls.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kim, so very different to houses in RSA! Hope all is well, take care Diane
DeleteOh wow! You did an amazing restoration here Diane, did it take very long? Honestly I'm totally hooked on restoration programs, I so admire when people take on a projects like this, it's a bit like keeping a bit of history alive. I see you have 34C.. bit warmer today 😊
ReplyDeleteHi Grace we bought the house in 2005 and I spent every summer here working on it while Nigel worked in the UK making the money!!! Nigel only fully retired 7 years ago the main house was then fully finished. Since then we have restored the two offices as we both needed space to do our own work. BUT being a 200 year old plus house, there is always some work to be done it really never ends!! Was going to email you some older photos but I cannot find your email address. Take care Diane
DeleteOhhh thank you so much, for this peek inside your home. I love, love, love such! Especially lovely old homes, like yours. Beams and stone walls. Oh my, how wonderful!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Luna your enthusiasm is very welcome :-) Take care Diane
DeleteLove the look of your home and remember when you remodeled the bedroom. As usual, great shots of the flowers and insects. I think that lizard has an interest in you.
