14/10/2017 The carry over of photos from yesterday.....

Maximum temperature 25C,  minimum 11C.  4km/h SE wind with 12 km/h gusts. Dry.
It is going to be even warmer over the next two days if the forecast is correct :-)
Driving past La Rochefoucald you can see the chateau on the skyline.

One of the streets in Roussines.

L' église Saint-Sulpice de Roussines

The church as above.  Sadly it was closed so I could not go in.
It had some great stained glass windows but it was not possible to take photos from the outside.

We were fascinated by the finials on the roof apexes of some of the houses...

See above...

as above.

La Lanterne restaurant...

Tomato, mozzarella, balsamic and pesto starter - very tasty...

Fish and chips on Friday...

Rose wine. I forgot a photo of the aperitif; pineau rouge...

Tarte au citron for dessert.
We plan to meet friends there next Sunday to try out the à la carte menu.

Last but not least, the nurse arrived to give us our flu vaccines this morning.

  1. Seeing your starter there brought back delicious memories of our trip a few years ago Diane, caprese salad was one of our favourite things ☺ happy Sunday.

    1. I love that starter also Grace. We first experienced it when we had a party in Joburg. One couple that came, the wife was Italian, and she brought a tray full for us all to enjoy yum yum. Hope you have a good week as your Sunday must be over by now with the time difference!! Diane

  2. That tomato dish looks delicious. I felt bad about the church being closed. In the past the church was always open and available to anyone who wished to worship.

    1. Emma I find that most churches here are generally open, but the smaller towns often seem to close theirs as there is nobody around, and the priests or curates go to a number of these churches so each one does not have their own priest. There is little crime in these towns so I am not sure what the reason really is. I agree it is sad. Have a good day, Diane

    1. It was quite a light lunch but enough that we decided that we did not need dinner as well.
We got the letter for the flu shots several weeks ago, but the chemist only got them in last week. All we then had to do was collect and phone the local nurse who fitted us in on his rounds. Take care Diane

  4. Diane, what a lovely church and restaurant! Sad the church is closed. And the fish and chips look so good, as well as the starter dish! I love lemon pie, especially lemon meringue pie. Great that you got your flu vaccine, too!

  5. Finials... Interesting.... Area meaning? Religious meaning?

    1. I am a little confused by your questions. Area meaning........ religious meaning - I can only think the French confused you L' église Saint-Sulpice de Roussines translates as the the church of Saint-Sulpice of Roussines, the latter being the name of the town. Have a good day Diane

  6. Thanks for the reminder....I need to get my rear to the doc in the box (walk in clinic in Kroger) for my shot. My insurance covers that so I don't have to make an apt to go in hand have it done. Great pics! I love your rock bldgs and wonder what it runs to heat them.

    1. Our stone house, we have central heating throughout run by oil and a wood burner as well in the lounge. It used to be an open fire but it was never really warm enough. Take care Diane

  7. Does the nurse do house calls? That is very convenient.

    1. Yes the nurse here does house calls for anything pretty much that does not require a Dr. Any after op treatment, or dressings for wounds etc they come to the house and do. It is a great idea. Take care Diane

    1. Kim I have to say that is rare that we do not enjoy a meal in a French restaurant. When you consider that many of the houses in the old towns are well over 200 years old, (as our house is), it really is travelling back in time!! Hope all is well and things are drying out a bit around you. Diane

  11. Beautiful photos and your weather sounds very nice too. Our temps here have turned rather cold. Your lunch looks amazing. I'm sure your friends will enjoy it. Your last photo reminds me I forgot to ask when the flu shots will be given at my local pharmacy where I've been getting my shot for the past several years. Good for you to have it done already :-)
