02/11/2017 Trip into La Rochefoucauld for various things so hope you enjoy the drive

Maximum temperature 20C, minimum 10C.  11km/h SE winds, 19km/h gusts. Dry.
One more reasonable day, then the temperature drops again if the forecast is right !
Sugar beet seems to be a popular crop this year!  Sorry a drive by shot!

Turning right into the main street of La Rochefoucauld...

The main street through the centre.  I see that they have flags flying for some celebration!

We parked at the square where there is this well and an old house in the background.

Walking past the old convent now being used as a day hospital...

The same building at the other end.

On to La Rochefoucauld Chateau, I never tire of taking photos of this building so I hope you do not tire of seeing them 😉

La Tardoire river with a lone duck in the distance.

Huge plane trees near to the river.

The old convent walking back the other way.

Wooden stud door...

and another one.

We then went and had new front tyres put on our car.

Back home we heard the cranes overhead, a sure sign of the approaching cold weather as they fly South in formation for winter.

This evening as I was closing up I saw that we had almost a full moon.  Another two days and I will try this shot again.

    1. It is a stunning chateau inside and out and it still has the family of Rochefoucauld living there in part of the building, the rest is for visitors to see and proceeds go towards the upkeep. Have a great weekend Diane

  4. Hi Diane,
Many thanks for your sweet comment!
Since I am without an internet connection, I manage from the end of the garden trying to catch my neighbour's one! My operator says it will take between 8 and 14 days to reconnect.... Grrr!
As I am organizing my trip to Kenya in january, it is not easy!
Great photos of La Rochefoucauld, the castle is a fairy tale one, I can understand easily your fascination for it!
Take care, hope you have nice weather for the weekend
    Warm hugs :)))

    1. Wow 8 to 14 days that is a lifetime :-) I would not be impressed!!!
I hope that the political situation calms down before January, Kenya looks a bit hectic at present. I have only set foot in Kenya when in the old days, flying from Rhodesia to London, we had to have 2 or 3 refuelling stops, how things have changed it was a long flight in the 50's and 60's!!!
The weather is good today but the cold is about to descend again, time for hibernation!!
Keep well glad you are feeling better. Gentle hugs Diane

  6. Hi Diane. I always enjoy the rides through the c

Hello Diane. I always enjoy the rides through the Charente with you and Nigel. I always marvel at how stunning the old buildings are and how clean the towns look. I have become hardened against the litter and filth of SA. The cranes don't make it as far as South Africa anymore or very few of them do. When I was a child we used to see them in the garden but they haven't been seen here for years now. Hot, humid and overcast today. Enjoy your weekend. Kim x

    1. Not sure what happened to your comment, it copied the first part somehow but not to worry! Pity that the people in Africa have no thought for rubbish being left all over, I noticed it so much when we were there in February!! Yes the cranes often now only go to the South of France or North Africa, proof I guess of global warming!! keep well and enjoy your SundayDiane

  7. Love the shots of La Rochefoucauld Chateau and the architecture in general. Wonderful shot of the cranes who tell us what's coming with weather.
