Sorry yesterday got lost in a flurry of things. The overlocker decided to keep breaking thread and re-threading it is a pain, I must have done it a dozen times at least before I got the tension correct again....
Finally got there and made this warm top for myself! Then I had computer problems so......
Autumn leaves.
Choisya ternata.
A little lavender still around but the frost finished off the zinnias.
Climbing rose still hanging in there....
as is this marigold.
Great tit.
Blue tit braving the cold water
and the return of the robin. The only time we ever see him is in winter.
Rosemary beetle.
Raindrops.
For those following the South African holiday Part 8 is now on the web HERE
Well now that the tension problem is fixed (the machine's, not yours) you will no doubt wish to start to make one of these nice fleece tops for all of your blogging chums. I prefer a dark colour with a bird appliquéd on the front - and it goes without saying that it should arrive in time for Christmas. I'll be sure to give you credit each time I wear it. Yours devotedly, David
ReplyDeleteLOL no chance as I cannot get the material here or in the UK easily. This material came from RSA after going to dozens of shops to find it!!!!!! Wish it was easily come by for myself!!! Enjoy your weekend, Diane
DeleteThe warm top looks so professionally done. I do not have the patience for sewing. I had maor computer problems this week too. I thought for a while I would be without until I could afford a new one.
ReplyDeleteI do not sew very often these days but when I do I expect the machine to work first time :-)) Hope your weekend is a good done. Diane
DeleteYOur top is perfect, even if your machine did not want to make it easy! ,-)
ReplyDeleteYou see robins in winter, and ours are only seen up north, in summer. European robins are prettier, than ours. Yours are precious little perky birds. Ours are bigger and not so cute.
Luna Crone
The European robin is by far the cutest of all the robins, or I think so :-))) I am pretty pleased with the top in the end I have to say. Have a fab weekend Diane
DeleteThe top looks cozy, Diane. We need that clothing here now too.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could get the material easily but it is hard to come by. I can order online but I do not like buying material without seeing it and feeling it first!! Keep well Diane
DeleteWhat a lovely top you have made, Diane. As for overlockers, I have had a similar model to yours for years, but am tending to run out of patience with it, so I use my table top sewing machine to tidy up the seams. I also have an industrial sewing machine as well, but it only does straight stitch. Lovely photos by the way!
ReplyDeleteMy overlocker must be well over 20 years old now. It makes a much better job of seams than my ordinary machine does and it looks much more professional. It is just a pain to keep threading when it plays up!! Hope you have a good weekend Diane
DeleteHi Diane, the sewing machine will be too complicated for me. I like your red top! The flowers are still doing well in your garden. I have never seen a Rosemary beetle and raindrops make beautiful photos!
ReplyDeleteRaindrops make great photos but the flowers are fading fast with the change in weather :-( Hope your weekend is a good one, Diane
DeleteI think you managed to get some great photos Diane. But I certainly know what you mean about photos being hard to come by. Half of the year here (or it seems that long) can be gray and not the best conditions lighting wise to take good pics.
ReplyDeleteI like the top you've made. I don't have an overlocker but wish I did. I really don't have room for it anyway so have to make do with my regular sewing machine. Can you stitch the entire top with an overlocker or just the edges? I seem to recall some machines where both the seams and edges are finished at once. Now that would be the machine to have.
This particular pattern, with stretch I can make the whole top with only the overlocker. If I want to make openings or put in zips then I have to change to the ordinary machine. Winter photographs I find are very difficult!!!! Hope that all is well with you, take care Diane
DeleteHi Diane, great photos again. Robins always remind me of winter. We get them in Durban but their breasts are more orange than the European redbreast. Nigel's jersey looks very professionally knitted. Sewing and knitting are not my cup of tea at all! Have a lovely weekend. Kim xx
ReplyDeleteThe European robin is much smaller that the South African robin as well as being redder. The jersey is mine and not Nigel's and it is not knitted. It is track suit material from RSA. Hope yOu have a good weekend also Diane
DeleteApologies for not calling by for ages, just enjoyed a lovely catch up. Good to hear from on Travel Tales and hope you are both keeping well. (dont reply here Diane as I will not get notified) :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda.
