Maximum temperature today 16C, minimum 2C. Dry but starting to rain as I type this; 5 km/h South Westerly winds with up to 16 km/h gusts.
I managed to get one bed of potatoes, exactly 38 potatoes planted. The other bed still has to have compost dug into it. Cut the lawn, lucky I did as the grass will be wet again tomorrow!
Have seen so few insects this year, I went hunting for them in the garden while the sun was shining and this is the result.
Speckled wood (Pararge aegeria)
As above.
Holly blue (Celastrina argiolus)
Unknown fly.
Wasp in the greenhouse!
Trichodes alvearius, a species of Soldier or Checkered beetle.
A member of the bee family maybe, it is very small...
as above.
Web-spinning spider.
Sorry, a bit behind again. Will catch up with comments ASAP.
I love it, the daisy flower.
ReplyDeleteGood start to the month.
Thanks for the visit. The daisies are everywhere :-) Take care Diane
DeleteEspecially love the spider!
ReplyDeleteI generally struggle to focus on small spiders on a web, this was a lucky shot! Keep well Diane
DeleteGreat subjects for a blog post. Insects are so vital yet few people pay them the attention they deserve.
ReplyDeleteInsects fascinate me, but we seem to be very short on them this year. Hopefully the numbers will improve as the weather does! Take care Diane
DeleteYou have captured some beautiful butterflies and insects!
ReplyDeleteMany thanks Nancy, it was good to see the butterflies after what seems like a very long winter. Take care Diane
DeleteExcellent insect pictures. I enjoy looking at all of them. However I don't necessarily like have some of them around.
ReplyDeleteThanks Emma, so long as they stay in the garden I am happy :-) Diane
DeletePretty photos of little visitors and pretty flowers full of sunshine. Fantastic!
ReplyDeleteThanks Denise, I was surprised I found so many as we seem to be short on bugs this year!! Cheers Diane
DeleteCan't say that I am excited to see the spider but the other pics are so good. I love viewing your shots.
ReplyDeleteHa ha I am not a spider fan either, but so long as they stay out of the house!!!!! Cheers Diane
DeleteOh Diane, these photos are perfect! I love bugs, especially the butterflies! Kisses, my friend.
ReplyDeleteI also love butterflies hope there will be more around soon. Happy week Diane
DeleteHi Diane. Beautiful photos. I have always thought that bugs are just as interesting to watch as big game. The butterflies are just as pretty as the flowers they sit on. Have a great weekend. x
ReplyDeleteMmmmmm think I prefer the big game, but I agree bugs are interesting and I have got more interested since living in France and with a decent camera. Take care Diane
DeleteThird butterfly pic down - what an amazing shot with the light shining through the wings making then look almost translucent.
ReplyDeleteThink you might mean second picture down as that is the one I also like. Have a good week, cheers Diane
DeleteNice bugging. Like them all except the wasp.
ReplyDeleteI will go along with that. I do not like wasps or hornets though they make good subjects for photography !!
DeleteTake care Diane.
Gosh there are lots of insects and bugs beavering away out in the garden if you look for them! I see from last post that you are still busy painting Diane, glad to see you're weren't up on those ladders outdoors. Your neighbours lilac bush is gorgeous, I've just planted one, can't wait until it gets more substantial. Happy weekend to you both ✨
ReplyDeleteSo much on with the garden and the better weather the painting is getting behind!! I want to get our bed room finished so we can move back in; then ther hall and the lounge to go. The latter is not easy as several large pictures, large book case and cabinet against the wall to be moved. Cheers Diane
DeleteI'm behind also, Diane. I love your photos; you are such a great photographer! :)
ReplyDeletexoxo
Thanks for the kind comment Sally. Just too much to do in the garden and then the painting to finish as well!!!! eep well Diane xx
DeleteThe Holly Blue is especially beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI love all the blues but they are not always easily identifiable. Keep well Diane
