04/05/2018 Here yesterday and gone today. (Well quite a lot of it!)

Maximum temperature today 19C, minimum 6C.    Dry today, but 1 mm rain measured yesterday; 14 km/h North Easterly winds with up to 35 km/h gusts.

In the beginning.....
It was getting too big and taking over the bed!!

the scraper at work...

getting smaller.

Loading the rubbish into the truck...

As above...

A change to the digger

and trying to get rid of the roots...

Cutting back the remaining pampas...

and a job well done.
Now I need to dig the bed and get some flowers in quickly before it is too late.

N.B. My new bird blog is updated  HERE
Part 7 of the birds I saw last year in Africa.

    1. I am hoping to fill up the space with mixed flowers and hope it will attract the butterflies and other bugs :-) I will take photos if and when it looks good. Diane

    1. Not entirely gone but it is about 1/3 of the size it was. We are only keeping it as it is a good screen in that particular spot. Also, the birds like the fluff for nest building it seems! Cheers Diane

    1. Almost impossible to remove without a machine. We tried to dig some out to give to a friend who wanted it. Huh not easy. Take care Diane

  5. Letting them grow is easy but to get rid or uproot them is not easy!

  6. Gosh that was a huge endeavour Diane. Things like pampas and bamboo take such a hold with their roots! What are you thinking about planting in the new bed?

    1. We removed a black bamboo some years back, that was taking off across the lawn at a rate of knots. The pampas has just got bigger and bigger as well. I am hoping to just fill the bed full of mixed flowers to attract the butterflies and other insects, or that is the plan! So much to do!!!! Cheers Diane

  7. I like the look of pampas grass. Berta has some planted by the fence.

    1. I also like the pampas but it was getting far too big. We have an Euonymus in that bed which was getting over taken. We bought in in the UK and it was potted, finally it made it to France and it starting to do well. They grow up to 8 metres if given the chance and I would prefer that to the pampas I have to say. Take care Diane
