Hummingbird hawk-moth (Macroglossum stellatarum).
Silver Washed Fritillary (Argynnis paphia)...
As above.
Common Wall Lizard (Podarcis Muralis) this guy went through the hole at the bottom of the door. It then obviously found a large healthy meal inside. This caused it to get stuck on its way out as it was too fat!! This was visiting a friend, not our door. All our doors and window are oak.
Poppy (Papaver rhoeas).
Granny Smith - we have 2 trees.
Mirabelle plums - 4 trees.
Broad Bordered bee Hawk-moth (Hemaris fuciformis)...
As above.
Butternut Squash, I have counted at least 16 under the leaves.
Haricot beans.
Beetle Longhorn 8Spot Hornet Beetle (Leptura aurulenta).

Your Scarce Swallowtail is spectacular, Diane, as are all swallowtails, of course. We have been raising Black and Giant Swallowtails in the house this year and so far have released one Black. Others should be emerging any day now. Hummingbird Hawkmoth is quite rare here and I have only ever seen a few. This year there are Gypsy Moths everywhere and their caterpillars have done a serious job defoliating some of our forests. Stay well.
ReplyDeleteYes David I also love the swallowtails. We have plenty of the Hummingbird Hawkmoths around, but my favourite, the Broad Bordered bee Hawk-moth is much rarer and they are quite beautiful, or I think so.
DeleteHope all is well over there, take care Diane
I just looked at the pictures again, and you are absolutely right. I hope you know just how excellent some of these images are.
DeleteThanks David, comment appreciated.
DeleteWow, gorgeous photos. I love the Swallowtail butterflies. Take care, enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the visit and the comment, much appreciated. You also stay safe and have a good day. Diane
DeleteThose are some good shots of butterflies. I enjoy looking at them in particular. It is interesting to see the different species. I'm envious of your 31 degree highs. Ours are about 37 or 38 lately. Although I live in a warm climate, I am a cooler weather person.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ann for the comment, I seldom complain about being too hot, I hate the cold so much. Take care, keep cool and have a good day. Diane
DeleteWonderful captures for Corner of the World... thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteStay healthy and well.
Thank you Erica for the visit and the kind comment. It is a pleasure to share. Stay safe, Diane

ReplyDeleteMany thanks Yvonne for the kind comment, it is very welcome. Stay safe and have a good day.
DeleteYour photos are always brilliant ... amazing range you've given us this time. The Scarce Swallowtail is stunning ... and how funny re the lizard! Loved seeing them ... take care and stay safe - Hilary
ReplyDeleteThanks very much Hilary. The lizard made us all laugh - I hope it slimmed down overnight and managed to get back out of the door!! Keep well, cheers Diane
DeleteThe colours in these photos are so lively! Perfect!
ReplyDeleteMarie always good to hear from you, thanks very much. Hope all is well with you and you are having a perfect day. Diane
DeleteAs always, beautiful beautiful photo's, Diane!
ReplyDeleteHope you and Nigel stay safe.

Thanks Sally, we are doing our very best to stay safe. I feel like we have been hardly out of the house since the end of February!! You stay safe and keep well also the family. Diane xox
DeleteExcellent shots, Diane! The first butterfly is stunning.
ReplyDeleteMany thanks Pam, the swallowtails are very beautiful. Take care and have a good week Diane
DeleteSuperb series of macros Diane, the butterfly captures are stunning. You really do take the best macros 💙 Take good care of yourselves 💜💙
ReplyDeleteThank you Grace for the kind comment. I wish I had more time to spend out with the camera. You also take care, Diane
DeleteThe Scarce Swallowtail is one of my favourite European butterflies, Diane, and your super photos have done full justice to the subject! I'd love to see a Hummingbird Hawkmoth again (did see one briefly last year), but not as much as I'd like to see a Broad-bordered Bee Hawkmoth (never had the pleasure), and your photos of both these species are excellent - particularly those of the Bee Hawkmoth!
ReplyDeleteI had to chuckle at the plight of that lizard. I hope that it was released without harm.
Take great care - - - Richard
Thank you Richard for the lovely comment, so appreciated. I presume the Lizard eventually slimmed down enough to get back out of the same hole that it entered through. I also hope it learnt a lesson not to go into small spaces looking for food!!
DeleteHope you are both well and that you are happy with your new car. We do huge mileages here so it would not be suitable for us until they come up with some better recharging ideas. Take care and keep safe, Diane
I have always loved the Hummingbird Moth. So cool. LOL...that is so funny about the lizard. Overeating will get you every time.
ReplyDeleteI agree the Hummingbird moths are such fun to watch. I am sure the Lizard eventually slimmed down enough to escape :-) Take care and have a good day Diane
DeleteWOW! Incredible photography!
ReplyDeleteLove these gorgeous captures from your corner of the world.
Thanks for the visit and the comment Veronica, much appreciated. Keep well and enjoy the rest of the week. Diane
DeleteThese butterflies are gorgeous! How did you get them to sit still and pose for a photo?
ReplyDeleteAmalia
xo
They are constantly on the move you just have to catch them at the right moment :-) Take care Diane
DeleteI've been lamenting the fact that we've been home a week and I haven't seen a single butterfly. For that matter, no bees either. By the way, how did the lizard story end? - Margy
ReplyDeleteThanks Margy for the visit and the comment. I do not really know how the Lizard story ended I presume it eventually slimmed down and got out. I have not seen the friends since were were there when this happened. Keep well and have a good remainder to the week. Diane
DeleteŚliczne zdjęcia! Szczególnie ten pierwszy motylek 😊
ReplyDeleteDziękuję za wizytę i komentarz. Dobry dzień. Diane
DeleteWonderful variety of beauty in your world! The huge moths are eye-catching and the story of the lizard is hilarious!
ReplyDeleteIt's great to see you at 'My Corner of the World' this week! Please be sure to link back to my blog :)
Thank you Betty for the comment and thanks for hosting. The Lizard really was amusing hopefully by the next day it escaped easily enough. Keep well Diane
DeleteBeautiful posting of butterflies and other critters. Love the close up pics.
ReplyDeleteThanks Nancy, there are some beautiful insects in this world I must say. Hope all is well over there, have a good weekend. Diane
DeleteAnother very enjoyable selection of visuals. Do hope the lizard was able to get out of that hole eventually.
ReplyDeleteI guess it must have. I saw it eventually go back in but I am sure the next morning it would have got out unless it found another meal!! Keep well Diane
DeleteYour photo are outstanding, better than I have seen in many nature magazines. You must have a great lens, but a great lens is no good without an artistic talent, and you have that. Very, very nice.
ReplyDeleteI am delighted to hear from you again, it has been a long time and so many things have changed in this world this year for us all. Thanks so much for the very kind comment it is much appreciated.
DeleteTake care and stay safe, Diane
What a beautiful butterfly. I just learned that Malaysia has over 1000 species.
