27/05/2020 Out walking around and about

I walked 8.2 kms on Sunday and yesterday 8.4. So many photos to filter through but here are just a few.  All of the insects I saw while out I am still trying to sort out their IDs.  Watch this page.

Wild Pyramid Orchid (Anacamptis pyramidalis).

A man at work...

Hay Bales...

Moving hay bales by tractor and trailer.

Cattle resting.

A late lamb, most of them were born much earlier.

Donkey and horse friends.

Over the rooftops of Vitrac.

The church,

A stone wall around the balcony at the top of one of the houses.

The Junior school.

A Private home.

Narrow streets.

Looking down the river from the bridge

The lavoir that was!  It is now so overgrown if the ladies had to do their washing there as in the old days, they would have to do a lot of clearing first!

Walking through the forest.

So damp under the trees that the moss grows everywhere,

Two different ferns, dryopteris and  possibly Harts-tongue.

View across the fields.

Foxglove...

As above.

Poppies...

As above.

Another derelict building - as we said before if only these walls could talk.

A French favourite - a Citroën 2CV.

Almost home I saw these 3 cyclists that look like they are on a camping holiday - I feel sure are they are supposed to be at home at the present time!!!!!

09/03/2020 Walking around our local village. Vitrac Saint Vincent.

Maximum temperature here today 12C, minimum 5C. Rain measured this morning 5mm, rain later this afternoon not measured as yet.  We are now at 229 mm this year, double what we had at the same time last year.  22km/h North-westerly wind with gusts up to 51 km/h.

I managed to go out for a walk midday and to get home dry after 8.5 kms.  Saturday I did 7.3 kms so I feel like I am getting a bit fitter than I was!!

This was Saturdays walk trying to keep away from the muddy paths where I generally walk; they were just too wet!

Interesting lintel over a window

A stone dog guards an entrance.

Street lights.

800 year old church of Saint Maixent.

Looking down onto the centre of the village.

Just another house but I like the entrance.

The picnic spot.

The little bridge over the stream through the village...

it is flowing fast but it is not over the banks (yet).

The junior school.

A path I tried to take but did not get far, too much mud!

A bank of daffodils.

Back yard chickens...

As above...

as above.

Back yard donkey.  Generally, he is friendly (and noisy), but today he just ignored me!!

The top part of a bell outside a gateway.

Roof tops.

Walking home I took a chance along the river, it was quite stony so little mud.

Celandine and bugs.

Leaving the river and walking back to the road a tractor had been in front of me, it was a bit muddy but passable.

Hello home, back at our little hamlet of 10 houses.

21/10/2018 Trying to catch up but it will be slow!!!!

Maximum temperature today 21C, minimum 9C.  Dry; 16km/h North-easterly winds with up to 36 km/h gusts.  It gets much colder tomorrow!!!!

I have the computer back with a new hard drive, but I am still trying to load programmes and get myself back to (sort of) where I was before the last hard drive crashed out totally leaving me with nothing.  I have lost all the early October photos which I had not backed up!  Also, all the photos of our holiday last month that I had edited are gone, but I have the originals so I will have to start all over again (sigh).  I will get back to comments I hope in a few days!
