20/09/2018 A few photos from out on the roads yesterday and in the garden.

Maximum temperature today 29C, minimum 15C.  Dry; 10km/h North-westerly winds with up to 24 km/h gusts.

I love driving through the forest areas.  The sky was blue, but not this blue, the tinted windscreen again!!

Lots of obstructions on the roads, but we missed a photo of the biggest vehicle as we were busy watching we did not end up in a ditch!...

as above...

Tight fit!

La Vienne river, drive-by photo at Coldebouye.

The church at Chirac.

A well at Esse.

A new car to me.  A Noble - I had never heard of a Noble before let alone seen one. Seen at Esse

Driving home through more treed areas.

In the garden at home...
Meadow Brown (Maniola jurtina)...

As above.

Cosmos with insects - friends or foes!!

04/03/2018 A trip to Limoges.

Maximum temperature today 11C, minimum 5C.   12mm of rain measured for yesterday and it is raining here again now; 15 km/h South Westerly winds with up to 41 km/h gusts.

Sorry, I am getting far behind with the diary as not many photos have been taken!!
Sunrise; a rare occasion for us, but we had a very early appointment at the hospital for Nigel.

As above.

Another very rare sighting for us living in the country, graffiti on a bridge wall.

A drive by shot of a fire engine.

Limoges Hospital.

Road works on the return trip.

Thermes de Chassenon; the site of Gallo Roman remains, well worth a visit if you are in the area, I have written about it here

Rochechouart Chateau.

Friends for dinner Friday night...

I made sushi snacks.

22/02/2018 Out for a drive and meeting friends.

Maximum temperature today 6C, minimum -2C.  Dry, but total rain since 1 Jan is now 279 mm; 16 km/h winds with up to 43 km/h gusts.

We now officially have the wettest winter on record in 60 years, which was when  rain gauges were first  set up in France!

The drive was actually yesterday, but I did not get around to getting it on the blog.  There was a very strange light when we left home.  The ground is so wet and cold and suddenly we had some blue skies and a little sun.  This seemed to make the ground steam and everything had a strange misty look about it.

You can  see steam rising in this photo behind the parked tractors.

Just another road obstruction!

Hopefully, these trees will soon be in bud, but they still look pretty lifeless at the moment.  The only green comes from moss on the branches and ivy climbing up many of them.

Arriving at Busseroles in the Dordogne.

Wall art in the restaurant where we met friends...  No, this is 4 Frenchmen also enjoying a good meal.

 As above.

Driving home through Piégut-Pluviers, this is the town hall.
(Piégut is pronounced Pee-ay-goo!)

The church in Piégut-Pluviers.  I angled this shot a bit high and picked up some tinted windscreen!!

All the dams and lakes are full to overflowing.

A little green here with a couple of evergreens.

Not sure which town this was, but just as we were driving out I saw this spectacular WWI memorial.  Maybe we will find it again one day!

The only photo taken today - I made some biscotti biscuits.   A number of years back, friends of ours in South Africa had them as a dessert with a glass of sweet wine to dip them in.  Very yummy! We must get some sweet wine, which is something we do not usually have in the house.

14/11/2017 Trying to catch some autumn colours.

Maximum temperature 5C, minimum -1C.  8km/h NE winds, 18km/h gusts. Dry but still very cold !!
Driving into Chasseneuil...

Heavy pruning going on in the town!

The first and only sign of Christmas seen so far in Leclerc.

The usual tractor obstruction...

but luckily it turned off just as we caught up with it.

Driving back home...

As above. I loved this last mix of colours.

N.B.  Because photos are hard to come by in this weather, posts may well be a bit intermittent and not daily!!!!

06/11/2017 A trip to the physio and shopping.

Maximum temperature 11C, minimum 3C.  10km/h NE winds, 20km/h gusts. Dry.
First stop was the dechetterie (dump), garden rubbish here...

and the electrical good are being collected opposite.

One of the very old Canadian carvings.  I seldom get to see this chap as the shrubs are usually as high as he is!

The post office in Chasseneuil looks like it is getting a face lift, or maybe a roof lift!

En route to the physio driving through Massignac...

as above.

Cattle by the side of the road.

A serious road obstruction, luckily one of the wider roads for us...

Cleaning out the ditches, they are pretty good about this each year.

Some signs of autumn but not a lot yet...

As above.

We stopped off to shop at Leclerc supermarket on the way home, Star Wars seems to be in evidence ....

As above.

Traffic jam in Tapponat :-)

The sun was a bit high when I took this, and only with the little hand held Samsung, but I thought the sunset was an interesting effect  if nothing else.

It has been a long day and I did not get a good night sleep last night.  Will catch up with all your comments tomorrow.  I am heading to bed!!
Bonne nuit.
