A sundial on a wall...

Waiting for the gates to open for a tour of Chateau Royal de Cognac, the home of Baron Otard Cognac...

Waiting in the reception...

The smell in the cellars is amazing 😉
Note: the spiders that live down here have got so used to the alcoholic fumes that they cannot live out of the building!!!!

Tasting the amazing cognac after a fabulous tour.
Highly recommended, both tour and cognac.

Finally standing on the bridge in Cognac looking down the Charente river.

As I said previously blogs are going to be very hit and miss for the remainder of this year.

13/10/2017 Friday the 13th - Join us on a drive to Roussines to try a new (to us) restaurant.

Maximum temperature 24C, minimum 10C.  10 km/h SE winds, 17 km/h gusts. Dry.

I took quite a few photos so will  spread them over two days as nothing much planned for tomorrow except the nurse coming to give us our flu injections!
Just down the road from home we noticed many fields of what I think is sorghum.  Not a crop we have noticed previously.

Love these country roads.  Watch out for deer crossing :-)....

some quite sharp corners along the way.

We always meet a tractor somewhere!

Entering the small town of Roussines...

The mayors office with the customary war memorial...

WWI, a small town and 4 members of the Vimpere family...

and sadly WWII takes yet another member of the family.

The old weighbridge...

I was trying to get a photo of the scales inside but all I succeeded in getting was a selfie!!!

I moved right up close to the glass and yes the original old scales are still there.

Watch this space for the rest of the photos tomorrow :-)

03/05/2016 Out for a walk with one of the local clubs.

Maximum temperature 17C, minimum 6C.   26 km/h NE winds.
Tree nursery.

Unique shelter over a seat. Creepers are planted on either side.

Bluebells, cow parsley and an unknown white flower.

The walkers. Eighteen in all.

Crimson clover planted in the grass which will shortly be turned into hay for the cattle.

There was a stream running through here but I could not get close enough due to brambles!

Someone is not going to get cold in the next few years!!!

Honesty - Lunaria annua

Beautiful countryside to walk in.

Watchful eyes by this pair of cats.

A local dam.

Ghost sign.

Flowers on the chestnut trees.
